Tell us about your work!
I work at FEIN Power Tools, a German tool manufacture as the marketing coordinator. I design ads, brochures, social media and marketing materials as well as photograph products.
Why did you decide to work at Fein Power Tools?
I design and build furniture as a hobby so working at a tool company was a perfect match! I’ve also really enjoyed working in marketing. I’ve been there seven years.
Tell us about your family!
My wife Jessica Moran (34) and I (35) met in college and married in 2016. We had our son Emmett Moran (3) in 2018. We have a Cat named Otis and we live in Shaler. Jess is a great mother and such a loving, caring wife. Emmett is a sometimes shy, goofy, caring little kid.
What was the hardest thing about becoming a dad?
There is plenty that’s hard about being a dad but the hardest thing for me was parental preference. My son has always been in tune with his mother and it’s hard when he either doesn't want me or tells me to go away. I know it’s something that is very common and It's something that I’ve tried hard to work on and overcome but it's still something that gets me down every once in a while. I’ve done plenty of research on it and I know it’s a very normal thing, but it is still such a hard thing to deal with, this littler person who you think the world of, that doesn't want anything to do with you.
Has being a dad impacted your career? How?
I leave the office earlier LOL. Honestly, it’s made me more driven to know that I have to help take care of a family and no longer just myself.
What's one thing you've learned from your child or children?
Patience for sure. How to dance and that if I ever want him to finish his dinner, I can just ask him if he is ready for bed!
How has being a dad made you a better or different leader?
It has made me more accretive as a person and it makes me think of how my actions will affect everything. Knowing I have someone looking up to me puts things in perspective and really changes everything!
