There’s an all-in-one guy’s adventure area in Georgia – one which includes horseback riding, clay shooting, archery, axe throwing, meats and tasty treats, and fine bourbon. That place is called Barnsley Resort, and if anywhere should adopt the informal moniker of “man’s must-have”, this is it.
On the way to the Resort, I had a chat with Jeff – a regular driver to and from the site – who said how jealous he was that I was going. He said that it was “dozens of times” that he heard from clients travelling on the ride home, how much they couldn’t wait to go back. (He has no stock or stake in the Resort). The Resort already had a lot to live up to. And it did.
Nestled within the serene embrace of Northwest Georgia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, Barnsley Resort spans a vast 3,000 acres of untouched natural beauty. This secluded haven offers an escape into nature, where guests can immerse themselves in the clean mountain air, explore the wilderness through hiking, and engage in a variety of exhilarating activities.
Embark on a journey through a landscape that seems lifted from the pages of a storybook, wandering among rows of suites that capture the essence of Southern elegance. Here, luxury meets the rustic charm, offering a stay reminiscent of a high-end retreat.

Amenities
Speaking of relaxation, the suites are in a class all their own.
I’ve travelled all over the world, and stayed in some of the finest accommodations, but I was pleasantly surprised that my first night at Barnsley was a dream within a dream. The mattress was a Goldilocks – not too firm, not too soft. The pillows embraced my neck and head, in a way that meant I didn’t have to fight with them in order that they would do what they were told.
My suite – pretty much a cottage – had a beautiful fire place, a living room area with couches and plush chairs, a nice deep tub for soothing baths, and a work desk. Plenty of space to sprawl, or entertain guests. Complimentary bottled water, tea, and coffee are already in the room.
Dining at Barnsley Resort is a kind of culinary fireworks, with a variety of restaurants offering everything from fine dining to casual beer garden fare. Ingredients are sourced from the resort’s own gardens and local producers, ensuring fresh, flavorful dishes that cater to every palate. Highlights include the Woodlands Grill, for craft cocktails and Southern classics, and the Rice House for garden-to-table dishes with a Mediterranean twist.
While you can partake in the extensive wine list as well as craft beer and spirit selections, there’s also a daily bourbon tasting – and one where they present a specialty all their own, a pecan-infused bourbon that is available nowhere else.
It must be said – while you can have any number of the right ingredients, you don’t have a beautiful dish without skill, heart and soul. Barnsley Resort at every touch point embodies heart and soul, and that very much extends to the service, staff, and the attention to detail.
You can’t teach passion, and you can’t learn authenticity… Here, you can tell that the support crew love the place as much as clients.
Barnsley Resort promises a diverse and fulfilling experience, blending outdoor adventure with luxurious relaxation, all set within the breathtaking beauty of Georgia’s wilderness.
