Meet Featured Dad Gordon Holmes, from Comcast !
Tell us about your work!
I'm the Executive Producer of Gaming at Comcast. My day-to-day involves providing editorial for our X1 and Flex platforms and working on other gaming initiatives throughout the company. I also perform as a Hangouts Editor, which is a video series we do that includes entertainment recommendations, celebrity interviews, and more.
Why did you decide to work at Comcast?
I was miserable where I was and a good friend of mine had made the jump and loved it.
Tell us about your family!
I have a beautiful, brilliant wife named Lyndsey and a smoodgy daughter named Lyric.
What was the hardest thing about becoming a dad?
Honestly, for most of my adult life I didn't want children. But, when the biological clock started chiming, it hit me like a ton of bricks. I had grown up with the misguided belief that most men didn't want children. So, the hardest part was coming to terms with what I really wanted despite what I had been led to believe.
Has being a dad impacted your career? How?
Since I have a baby that was born during Covid, I've been blessed with the ability to see her throughout the day. It'll be tough when things return to normal because I have a quite a bit of business travel.
What's one thing you've learned from your child or children?
I used to be a world class procrastinator. But, when a baby's got an issue, it needs to be dealt with immediately.
How has being a dad made you a better or different leader?
I've been very career-centric throughout my adult life. But, having a little person who depends on you for everything helps keep things in perspective. And I like to think I keep that perspective when dealing with my team.
