The 1st Dance

To my daughter’s future spouse, I want you to know a few things about me and my little girl’s relationship.

I strive hard, every day to show her how a woman should be treated, loved and respected with how I interact with her and her mother. I tell her daily how she’s more than her fancy clothes or her cute bows, her long hair or her beautiful brown eyes. She’s extremely intelligent and she will be respected for her beautiful mind.

She’s funny, sweet, overly emotional and very competitive, so prepare for her grumpy face and pouty lips if she should lose at anything...ever!  I hope she never settles for anything less but real respect, love and admiration from you. I don’t want you to be intimidated by her strong personality though.

Just know that I want her to strive for what she wants and to never settle. Please be patient with her, she’s hard headed…she gets it naturally.

Also, if she should ever say she needs her dad because she’s feeling down, depressed or sad…don’t become jealous, just remember and never forget I held her hand when she was scared before you, cuddled her when she was feeling sad, wiped away her tears, comforted her when her heart was broken and truly loved her before you.

And also, never forget, I also had the 1st dance.
