Meet Ron Hogue, from the Victoria General Hospital Foundation

Tell us about your work

I am the Director of Development for the Victoria General Hospital Foundation. Our mission is to advance healthcare at the Victoria Hospital and in our community. We engage our community, health experts and other stakeholders to identify, support and fund innovations that enhance patient care and improve the health and well-being of our community.

Why did you decide to work at your company?

I had a very successful career in media sales and management and decided that I wanted to apply my skills toward making an impact in my community. I was fortunate to have had the opportunity to shift into my present role almost three years ago.

Tell us about your family!

I've been blessed to have five kids – three daughters and two sons – ranging in age from thirty-one to seven years old! Each one has a very distinctive and intense personality. My beautiful wife is a Community Life Pastor at our church.

What was the hardest thing about becoming a dad?

It's hard to see your kids be deeply hurt by a particular experience in their lives knowing that while you can offer some words of comfort and support, it's one that they have to walk through.

Has being a dad impacted your career? How?

Being a dad has helped me keep my perspective on where my priorities should be, regardless of how well or poorly I may be doing in my career.

What's one thing you've learned from your child/ children?

I've learned that individuals can perceive the same thing very differently. My kids often have a very unique perspective that is different from my own.

How has being a dad made you a better/ different leader? *

Being a dad has helped me to appreciate that people experience and react to life around them in many different ways. It's helped me to develop patience with others.

Keep up with everything DAD
